Neuropsychology
and Speech Therapy Unit
The Neuropsychology and Speech Therapy Unit provides diagnostic and assessment services for children, adolescents, and adults presenting cognitive, learning, and behavioural difficulties associated with developmental, neurodevelopmental, neurological, and psychiatric conditions. Specialist evaluation is aimed at the accurate identification of functional impairments and the definition of personalised clinical pathways within a multidisciplinary care framework.
Neuropsychology
Neuropsychology focuses on the assessment of cognitive and behavioural functions in relation to the functioning of the central nervous system. At Rete Operativa, comprehensive evaluations are conducted to identify potential cognitive disorders affecting abilities such as attention, memory, organisation, perception, coordination, logic, and reasoning, with particular attention also given to behavioural alterations, including hyperactivity and difficulties in communication and social interaction.
Neuropsychological assessment is carried out through personalised protocols and standardised tools, including clinical testing, computer-based measures, and virtual reality assessment systems. The integration of collected data enables the specialist to establish an accurate diagnosis and, when indicated, define a targeted therapeutic intervention.
In developmental age, consultations most frequently concern neurodevelopmental disorders such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), intellectual developmental disorders, and autism spectrum disorder, as well as cognitive difficulties associated with neurological conditions such as epilepsy or traumatic brain injury.
In adulthood, diagnostic evaluation focuses on possible long-term outcomes of neurodevelopmental disorders, cognitive alterations related to psychiatric conditions such as depression and anxiety, and difficulties resulting from neurological diseases or brain injuries, including stroke, multiple sclerosis, dementia, and traumatic brain injury.

Speech Therapy
Speech therapy focuses on the assessment and treatment of difficulties in language, communication, learning, and swallowing, addressing the functions that regulate verbal expression, language comprehension, and the acquisition of academic skills. Specialists conduct comprehensive clinical evaluations for patients of all ages, analysing language disorders, articulation difficulties, communication impairments, and dysphagia.
The diagnostic framework is established through targeted testing and standardised assessment tools, enabling clinicians to define the patient’s functional profile and design a personalised therapeutic plan. When appropriate, the pathway may include targeted training programmes aimed at strengthening reading, writing, and mathematical skills, used both as diagnostic support and as rehabilitative intervention.
In developmental age, the most frequent referrals involve language disorders and Specific Learning Disorders, including dyslexia, dysorthography, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia. Assessment services for learning disorders are also available for adults. The multidisciplinary approach ensures coordinated care with neuropsychologists and other specialists, allowing the development of structured, tailored rehabilitation pathways.
